Lily was pushed into a lake and drowned, yet she was granted an unexpected chance to return to the mortal world: she must collect five tears shed by people who truly love her within thirty days. If she fails, her soul will vanish forever. Rescued and adopted by William Carter, she discovers a curse hidden within the wealthy family through her Spirit Sight, and gets entangled in Chloe’s plot to seize the inheritance. Abandoned by her biological father Daniel when she was little, Lily finds a real home for the first time under the protection of William, Margaret, Ethan and others. As the curse intensifies, William is also dragged into mortal danger. In the end, Margaret, Ethan, William, Chloe and Daniel shed genuine tears for Lily one after another. She gathers all five tears, breaks the death curse, and loses her Spirit Sight. At last, she can stand under the sunlight and live like an ordinary child, with a home that truly belongs to her.
